Audience

When considering the audience for this project I carefully considered who could be included in it, I concluded that the average university student wouldn’t be the typical audience for a product such as this. As of such I decided that since I am modeling the show on other podcasts/radio programme’s like Great Lives and Desert Island Discs(both of which are on radio four) it made sense that I should share the same audience with them. After researching the BBC’s website, more specifically the freedom of information area, I found a description of BBC four audience profile that would also be ideally suited for me aswell.

  • “The remit of Radio 4 is to be a mixed speech service, offering in-depth news and current affairs and a wide range of other speech output including drama, readings, comedy, factual and magazine programmes. The service should appeal to listeners seeking intelligent programmes in many genres which inform, educate and entertain.”

Using the VALS (Values, Attitudes And Lifestyles) framework I would Identify my audience as being categorised as being Thinkers/ Believers with some potential Achievers.

This however is only my primary audience and  I would consider University students and potential university students as my secondary audience as I could clearly see the University of Lincoln using these podcasts as a way to promote the university.
