Desert Island Discs has been a staple of BBC radio since 1942, currently it is broadcast on BBC Radio Four and is available for download as a podcast. The show is now hosted by Kirsty Young. Desert Island Discs is a biographical and factual radio programme, with is basic premise being that one is stuck on an island for all eternity and so guests must choose eight pieces of music to have with them and these choices are the discussion/dissection of the persons life.
Desert Island Disc concept of having a way to travel through a persons life, through there choice of music, is something that I will incoprate into my podcast. Also the tone of light frivolity yet nsightfulness is another feature I will try emulate on The Lessons Behind The Lectures.
